At Veris Strategies, we see such great results for our clients for people, planet and profit by working with their colleagues.  ⁣

To get involved in making a difference in a business’s sustainability strategy, everyone needs to understand the Why, What and How. Everyone has a part to play.

With our help, the team at Cranswick Gourmet Pastry mobilized their onsite Waste Warriors to tackle litter in their local area as part of their Second Nature biodiversity plans.⁣ Across two days they managed to collect 22 bags of rubbish, four tyres and loads of plastic sheeting! This was all collected and sorted into recycling or energy from waste.⁣⠀

Not only did they collect, but they also gave back. The team installed seven bird boxes, five bat boxes, three bug houses and scattered bags of wildflower seeds to attract local bees, bugs and butterflies all around the wooded area that surrounds our site. ⁣

I’m so proud of Second Nature. What we do as a business resonates with our employees, which impacts their families and communities. We’ve taken issues that people care about and have converted that into action – the pay-it-forward effect should never be underestimated.
— Andrew Corbett – General Manager, Cranswick Gourmet Pastry

Great for staff morale, the team intends to maintain the activity for the good of the area which will improve biodiversity.

Employee engagement is essential for businesses to be able to make a difference from the ground up. Helping our clients to communicate and activate plans with their colleagues in a fun, inspiring way is our speciality.

This is a group initiative by Cranswick, who employ 10,000 colleagues at 16 sites around the UK. They are making a difference through the power of their people with their Group Sustainability strategy, called Second Nature. We’re proud to work for such a forward thinking, market leading food company.
